"Aliant Swing to Beijing" Kara Grant Golf Tournament
Brudenell River Golf Course, Brudenell, PEI Monday, July 14th, 2008 Results
The A&S Scrap Metals entry was the overall winner in the 4th Annual Aliant 'Swing to Beijing' Kara Grant Golf Tournament held July 14, 2008 at Brudenell River Golf Course. Shown below is the winning team, including (LtoR) Kathy Shellington, Sue Allen, Grant, Pam Ling and Morgan Bell. The ladies team fired a blistering 13 under par 59 to edge the mens champs from the Bank of Montreal/Corcum Associates by one stroke, and the mixed winners from Golf Links PEI who shot a 63. Each player on the three winning teams received lettered beach chairs from Kara Grant, the world class modern pentathlete from Stratford, PEI, who was recently named to the Canadian Olympic Team for the upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing. The Bank of Montreal/Corcum Associates team included Mike May, Glen McGonnell, Troy Arsenault and Kevin Crozier, while the Golf Links PEI team included Jack Kane, Buck Watts, Mark Derry and Minister Valerie Docherty. 36 teams participated in the fundraising tournament for Grant, in her quest to become the first Canadian to medal in the demanding sport of modern pentathlon.

The awards luncheon was held in the Rodd's Dundarave Room, where Dave Connolly emcee'd the prize presentations and tournament auction, which included an autographed Brad Richards Tampa Bay hockey jersey. |
