"Aliant Swing to Beijing" Kara Grant Golf Tournament
Brudenell River Golf Course, Brudenell, PEI
Monday, July 14th, 2008
A Message from Kara:
The 2007 Aliant Swing to Beijing Golf Tournament was a very successful event in every way and I'm fortunate to be able to follow it up with another promising day of fun and excitement on July 14, 2008 at Brudenell River Golf Course. I've put in my request for blue skies and warm breezes well in advance and I'm already looking forward to the event. In order to compete with the best in the world I need to attend key competitions and training camps each year. Funds raised at this event will go towards my International competition travel, training camp, and equipment expenses. This will help make my dream a reality by allowing me to follow an ideal preparation plan for the Olympic Games in Beijing this August. The funds gained through last year's event helped me achieve my first Gold Medal performance in Europe at the Swiss Open in October 2007.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my family, friends and sponsors who have supported me in my quest for excellence in the sport of modern pentathlon. Thanks for taking part in this incredible journey as I strive for a Olympic Gold medal.
A Unique Opportunity
The 2008 Aliant Swing to Beijing Golf Tournament offers many benefits to participants and sponsors beyond the enjoyment of a great round of golf on a challenging course. All those involved will have the opportunity to learn more about Kara and what has made her a world class athlete. They will get an inside look at exciting Olympic qualification events and Olympic preparation leading up to the Games in Beijing. Kara's perseverance and hard work have brought her a long way and she continues to serve as a role model for many people over the course of her career. Motivational speaking has been one of the primary vehicles for Kara's messages about goal setting, hard work and determination. She plans to continue developing her speaking skills and activities so as to pass along the many valuable lessons she's learned as a world class athlete and a native of Prince Edward Island.
The audience for the event will include:
- Leaders from government and the business community who have teams participating
- Participants, from a wide array of businesses and organizations, estimated at 140 golfers
- The general public through media coverage and extensive event advertising
